The 72 Summit Series brought about the Canadian hockey identity and spirit as we know it today. Many people say that this was the most important matchup in history and it brought Canadians closer. Hockey became a sport that all Canadians were familiar with. Canada was one of the best teams at the time, so this was a way of Canadian identity and spirit. People say that this series introduced the modern hockey as we know it today.

The 72 Summit Series took place in 1972, of course. It was an eight game series between Canada and the Soviet Union. At the time, Canada and the Soviet Union were considered the greatest hockey countries around the world, but to so who was the ultimate greatest at the sport, there was an eight game series to see which country was the better hockey country.

Before the series started, Canadians thought that they could not be beaten, especially with the lineup they had. Canada had the some of the best hockey players in the world, but so did the Soviet Union. During the series Canada and the Soviet Union battled against each other. It was close, but a goal by Paul Henderson took the series. Canada was in great joy! They had won the 72 Summit Series!

in my opinion, the 72 Summit Series was the most famous series of all time in the history of hockey. It brought much Canadian pride and identity, even to this day. We are recognized as one of the best hockey-playing countries in the world.
